ABOUT
Attorney Christopher M. Shea is a former prosecutor and civil litigator with extensive trial experience. His current practice focuses on all aspects of criminal representation beginning from the initial phases of a government complaint or investigation through trial. Mr. Shea also has a varied probate practice ranging from drafting estate planning documents through probate litigation.
Mr. Shea began his career with the Cape and Islands District Attorney's Office where he quickly rose to the position of lead prosecutor in the Falmouth District Court. As a prosecutor, he successfully argued hundreds of evidentiary motions and won numerous bench and jury trials on matters including OUI, possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute and indecent assault and battery. Mr. Shea has also worked as a civil litigator with a Boston-based defense firm as well as an in-house litigation manager for a publicly traded Fortune 100 company.
Mr. Shea is a graduate of Loyola University and Suffolk University Law School where he graduated with academic honors. He is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. He is a member of the American, Massachusetts and Plymouth Bar Associations and is on the board for the Massachusetts Association of Court Appointed Attorneys. He is also a member of the Massachusetts Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
He is a native of Massachusetts and lives on the South Shore with his wife and daughter.
Representative matters include:
- Won motion to suppress breath test results for a client charged with an 3rd offense OUI based on argument that the police failed to follow strict breath test guidelines for administering the test.
- Drafted estate plan for multi-generational, complex family trust.
- Successfully argued a motion to suppress evidence from an illegal stop and search by the police requiring the Commonwealth to dismiss the chares against a client charged with distributing cocaine.
- Successfully represented a client whose ex-wife attempted to file a frivolous 209A restraining order against him; the Court denied her request.
- Secured a dismissal prior to trial for client charged with possession of Class A and Class B substances and growing marijuana in basement.
- Successfully challenged the validity of a search warrant for a client charged with possession with intent to distribute Marijuana.
- Represented physician in an investigation by the Attorney General's Office for alleged health care fraud.
